I don’t actually have a story to tell involving cottage cheese cakes, but I do remember my foster mother making them for us one or two times growing up and I really enjoyed them. They are kind of like pancakes with cottage cheese. I don’t remember how we ate them or what we ate them with. I made cottage cheese cakes for supper yesterday and my family loved them, but none of us knew what to put on them. So if you’ve eaten these before, please let me know what you put on them and what you ate them with.
You’ll need: 2 cups of dry cottage cheese, 3 eggs, 1/2 a cup of flour, 1 teaspoon salt.
Add all ingredients into a bowl and mix well. (I made these yesterday both with and without pepper, and I personally liked them better without the pepper, but I forgot to take a photo of the batch without the pepper.)
Place a spoonful of the mixture into a pan of hot oil, flipping in between.
Fry until both sides are golden brown.
Serve and enjoy!

I love vareniki with cream gravy and rhubarb sauce, so I think that these would taste great with that, too!
They absolutely do taste good like that. Or applesauce and sour cream.
We eat them with freshly cooked pinto beans
I didn’t grow up with these, but they looked simple and delicious so I gave them a shot and they were a perfect comfort- food!
I agree, they are the perfect comfort food!!
We used to sprinkle them with sugar and had farmer sausage with them
I know you mention it in your written post, but others might miss it and try and use regular cottage cheese (vs dry cot). Just an editing thought.
I am loving your stories, I come from a Mennonite family in Winnipeg (transplanted from East Germany via Paraguay during WWII).
I grew up eating them with sugar but now I put sour cream on them. And yes vereniki gravy also tastes good. We fry farmer sausage or baked ham. Awesome Mennonite meal!
We used to eat them for lunch on the day that we’d have wrenakje for supper!
We usually had them plain or with beans. They’re pretty good dipped in ketchup if that’s the way you roll, lol! Thanks for the recipe!
In a Ukrainian recipe someone says they like them.with jam I think I would try that or Blueberries and maple syrup anything goes have never had this but think gonna try
Have a very small recipe 400 gms cheese 1 tbsp of flour 1 tbsp of sugar And 2 egg yolks that was all.they put in it.
We ate these a lot when I was growing up. We drizzled them with cane syrup though personally I prefer maple syrup
My mother served cortège cakes with a white creamy gravy. Delicious!
I like to do them with grilled thick onion slices. Sometimes l do sliced fresh tomatoes, or grilled thin slices of salami. I have also made parmesan ‘chips’ which are great with the crispy saltiness.
I grew up eating them with sour cream and some black pepper on top. But am trying to figure out where these originated. Does anyone know?
I used to make these for my Kids all the time, and they loved them.
I used to to fry up some /Bacon chunks and then add a tub of sour cream to make a sauce / pour over Cakes MMMMM!
And served with A Polish sausage , Boiled /. Was a a good Meal and we all loved it, 🤗
I remember eating these as a kid. Usually eat them with fried ham with a thin ham gravy and topped with apricot jam.
Grew up having these regularly, always had them with canned peaches. Was a meal we ate on busy farm days, quick and the sweetness from the peaches counters the salty oily cookie.
These are so delicious! I have been making cottage cheese from raw milk, just to make these wonderful pancakes. I love that they are mostly cottage cheese and eggs with just enough flour to bind them. I add 3 or 4 finely chopped green onions to the batter. I like them plain with butter, or with a touch of maple syrup and a side of bacon. Perfection.
